POPPERS
All our nitrite based products are sold as Room Odorants
or video head cleaner only. Although research indicates
it is generally safe to do so, we do not encourage the
misuse of our products as poppers. We are not responsible
for the media claims that poppers are said to be aphrodisiacs
or sex drugs, and we do not endorse such claims. Our
products do not contain amyl nitrite or butyl nitrite.
They contain highly pure isobutyl nitrite, alkyl nitrites,
cyclohexyl nitrite or hexyl nitrites only.
The street name of the aromas is "Poppers" and
is given to the class of compounds called the alkyl nitrites.
Included in this class of compounds are amyl-, butyl- and
isobutyl nitrite among several other nitrites. All of which
are nearly identical in physiological effect when inhaled.
Amyl nitrite was used for decades to treat angina pectoris,
a heart disease, though all the alkyl nitrites would act
nearly the same on the disease.
Amyl nitrite has been a prescription drug for several
decades. However, other nitrites, particularly butyl and
isobutyl have been used for nearly 35 years as the primary
ingredients in consumer products such as liquid insense,
liquid aroma, leather- and videohead cleaner. The most
popular among these are Rush, Hardware, Reds, Quicksilver,
Ram, Bolt or Manscent, but beware: there are also numerous
off brands as well!
Sold in small glass bottles, the nitrites are often misused
as inhalants by the consumer, who removes the cap and places
the bottle to his/her nose and inhales the vapors. The
effect is immediate and pleasurable to most people (though
some people report headaches). In some sexbars, -saunas
or -clubs the bottles are left opened to fill the room
with the odour.
